I experienced a page with the police logo telling me that I had tried to access child pornography. What will happen now?

Answer

The police are aware of the various techniques criminal distributors of child abuse material uses, such as viruses, malware, Trojans and other exploits of your browser or computer – and know that many are redirected to such sites without any sexual interest in children whatsoever. Having the “stop page” displayed on your computer screen or mobile phone will not have any consequences for you, as no data about you is stored.

No investigations will be initiated as a result of this page being displayed; the blocking of child sexual abusive material on the Web is a preventive, not investigative, measure to limit the amount of available material. If you were requesting material that is borderline legal in regards to the age of the persons depicted, you should look for material with older models. For those that are swimming in murky waters concerning the legality of the material, the display of the “stop page” should be a reminder that you might be committing a crime or are in the process of doing so.
